The Government has announced that the majority of employees working in the Health and Social Care sector will be able to apply for settled status under the new EU Settlement Scheme pilot between 29 November and 21 December 2018. This is the new status for EU national’s post-Brexit that will allow them to continue to live and work in the UK.
The Scheme will not be fully open to workers in other sectors of the economy until March 2019 so there is a brief window of opportunity for EU employees working in health and social care to resolve their immigration status ahead of other EU nationals working in the UK. The scheme will be opened formally to all EU nationals from March 2019 so any health and social care workers not applying in the pilot period will have an opportunity to apply from then.
